Dora Abodi is experimental and chic at the same time. Handcrafted details, new lines, fresh contemporary thinking, uncommon use of materials, luxury: these are the keywords of the brand.
Designer Dora Abodi has graduated at the French MODART International Art and Fashion Academy Budapest. Her influences are mixed, she is inspired by the French subtle and fine approach to fashion and extra feminine, elegant details, the Italian sense to lax and gripping attitude of luxury, fantastic and beautiful leather works, the Hungarian craftsmanship, special and perfect cutting and finishing traditions and the spontaneous and emotional Rumanian attitude. Literature, old tales, comics, music videos, science-fiction, nature, contemporary fine arts, movies and stars, interesting meetings and travels, the always changing world around us: it is an inexhaustible thesaurus of inspirations...

Beginnings…
Dora was born in Kolozsvár, Transylvania (Romania) in a multicultural fine artist family.  She spent her childhood in the vivid, contradictory and colorful milieu of beautiful Kolozsvár. Then her family moved to Hungary, Győr where she finished the primary school at an art school and the literature class at the high-school.
However she was a fashion and literature addict since her childhood, spending whole days with making hundreds and hundreds of new outfits and hairstyles for my Barbie dolls, drawing or reading novels, after finishing the high-school she started legal and media studies in Budapest. Later she turned to the creative field and became a student of MODART Art and Fashion Academy. She received  BA in Fashion Design diploma in June 2009.

Starting the brand Dora Abodi…F/W 2009 collection called: Clandestine
When she was in the final year at MODART, she decided to start her own brand and began to work on her first collection. In March 2009 she launched her first luxury ready-to-wear women’s collection called ‘CLANDESTINE’ for F/W 2009/10, including presenting a complete apparel line, including clothes and playful, glamorous, eye-catching accessories, like bags, belts, hats under the brand name Dora Abodi. She uses special handmade material surfaces developed by herself and also innovative new materials.
Being environmentally conscious she works only with synthetic fur, non ‘exotic’ leathers and often used textiles made from recycled materials (for example a grey skirt made from tulle produced from recycled PET flacons).
In 2008 she took part in the ECOSTUME performance tour of Merlin Theatre with three outfits made from recycled materials.
Cooperating with local dressmakers, textile industry experts she would like to believe that she made small steps to rebuild the local textile industry traditions.

S/S 2010 Collection…
In June 2009 she presented the Spring/summer 2010 collection:  M’amour by Dora Abodi
The 2010 spring/summer luxury pret-a-porter collection’she theme is the both euforic and bitter love. The keywords and inspirations are: boundage, changing the shape of silhouette, the distorted bodyart works of Lucy and Bart, the mixture of soft  materials (like muslin) and hard materials (like leather, technical ribbons, industrial materials). The collection is also inspired by the bizarre beauty of medical corsets and fixing rails. The pieces of the collection are in different shades of skin colours as a subtile reference to the sensuality and innosence. The collection is complemented by extravagant bags.
