The fashion designer, Chrystelle Desbois, is born and grew up in Brittany, France. She studied the Plastic arts in Rennes (Brittany), and then she followed her higher education at ESMOD-Paris, the first school of the most famous international fashion university group.
In her life, Chrystelle is surrounded by creative people: her two brothers are musician and graphic designer and her best friends are actors, ceramists, writers, musicians... She readily confesses to nourish herself of their energies and their will to always make, to create with humility, as an artisan does. Her best reward is to see the children wearing her clothes.
The brand name, rose desbois, was like an obviousness: her maternal grandmother, Rose, used to embroider works. One did not have any less to honor her memory, combining her maiden name to a word- play, referring to a poetic and timeless world (rose des bois, written in three separated words, mean the rose of the woods).
At the first glance, rose desbois collection is thought and worked in order to be uncluttered and simple, and to be suitable to children resembling children. At rose desbois, no question of dressing the children like adults. Chrystelle prefers letting the children grow with their rhythm. Of what will dream the little girls who get dressed in the same stores as their mom, when they grow up?
Children are the central point of interest. They are not standard bearers. The simplicity of clothing studied with accuracy in the creative process makes it possible to leave the child free… This freedom and genuineness claim is in the genes of rose desbois… "Less is more" takes all its sense.
It is also the freedom to wear clothes which do not answer out of necessity the diktats of the fashion which insufflates her work. Having worked for a long time for the fashion industry, Chrystelle Desbois decided to stop her career and to launch herself into a more personal and intimate adventure.
In contrast to this system, Chrystelle started to create timeless collections with some fabrics of great quality and decided the difficult economical bet to manufacture part of her collections in Brittany near the forest of Broceliande (the famous legend of King Arthur).
